Alexis White

Alexis’s artwork is inspired by her life experiences as a Black woman and the complexities of the human form such as hair and skin. She explores themes of identity and memory. She uses charcoal and acrylic paint to convey emotion and emphasis through contrast and visual texture. She wants observers to think deeply about their own identity and the origins of the visual standards by which we judge ourselves and each other.
